TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)

TPU stands for ‘Thermoplastic Polyurethane’ and is often referred to as the bridge between rubbers and plastics. It comes with many properties, including elasticity, transparency, and resistance to oil, grease, and abrasion. Technically, they are thermoplastic elastomers consisting of linear segmented block copolymers composed of hard and soft segments.. The material appears rubber-like, which means it is very elastic, flexible, and smooth to the touch, but at the same time, it is extremely durable and strong. In addition, the TPU range also offers new possibilities for increased sustainability, by reducing carbon footprint without compromising on quality or performance. Up to 60 percent of the carbon content* of the TPU series is sourced from biomass, depending on product hardness. In comparison to fossil-based TPUs, the carbon footprint can be reduced by more than 20 percent.
